The Rapanui Villa Devoto house-location features the traditional chalet style architecture of Mar del Plata. It is a style that features a stone façade and can be found in all cities throughout the country. This store is located on the corner of a triangular block and opposite Plaza Arenales, the main square in the Villa Devoto neighborhood.
The house has three floors. The top floor is the ice cream factory. The second floor is a space equipped with coffee tables and chairs; it also features restrooms. The ground floor is where you will find the chocolate and ice cream sectors. The ice cream sector is set up in what was previously the garage.
The challenge in this project was to accommodate the proposal to the triangular ground plans. This required the removal of interior walls to create an open plan space on both the ground floor and first floor. This allowed all formerly segmented areas to become connected.
The house exterior features two long and narrow side gardens which were adapted and equipped with custom designed seating and awning. Container grapefruit trees were also added. Along the sidewalk, six fresno trees were planted to provide shade for the perimeter seating areas and to contribute to the neighborhood.
